Retail Sr. Assistant Store Manager

Job Summary:

The Retail Sr. Assistant Store Manager plays a vital leadership role in Office Depot’s retail operations. This individual supports the General Manager in driving total sales and service growth, training staff, managing store operations, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience. As a key carrier and Leader on Duty, they lead the team in creating a positive, customer-centric environment, while fostering a strong culture aligned with Office Depot’s 5C values: Customer, Commitment, Change, Caring, and Creativity.

Responsibilities:

• Leadership & Development
• Lead, coach, and train store associates, including Print Services team members
• Conduct training on business models and services
• Provide feedback to develop skills and promote a culture of trust
• Assist in staffing, performance reviews, and development of team members
• Sales & Customer Experience
• Drive memorable customer interactions and service excellence
• Champion the use of selling techniques and sales training
• Lead by example to meet and exceed sales and service targets
• Build customer loyalty and satisfaction
• Operations & Efficiency
• Oversee accurate processing of merchandise and adherence to visual standards
• Identify and act on opportunities to reduce inefficiencies
• Ensure compliance with safety, loss prevention, and operational policies
• Support General Manager with associate performance management
• Key Carrier Duties
• Act as Leader on Duty, including opening/closing the store
• Responsible for alarm system, cash handling, and store security
• Maintain store readiness and accountability during assigned shifts

Qualifications and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Preferred fields: Business, Marketing, or Retail Management
• 1–3 years of experience in retail, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/management role
• Proven sales and customer service skills in a service-driven environment
• Strong computer proficiency and ability to work with store technologies
• Excellent leadership, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills
• Ability to thrive under pressure, manage time effectively, and adapt to change
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Passionate about customer experience and brand advocacy

Salary:

• $22.00 – $28.73/hour, depending on location and experience
  Includes eligibility for performance-based incentive programs
